So you’ve taken your first step to become a new driver in Gilbert Arizona? Congratulations! As you probably already know, driving is a valuable skill to know but it can also be extremely dangerous. To get your instruction permit, you will need to pass both a written test and a vision test.

- You may not have more than one (1) passenger in the car you’re driving who’s under 18 unless you are accompanied by a parent/guardian who is a licensed driver (only exception is if the underage passengers are your siblings).

You must carry auto insurance coverage on any car you drive and must carry proof of insurance whenever you drive. The minimum amount of coverage you are required to have is as follows:
- Bodily Injury (1 person): $15,000
- Bodily Injury (2 or more persons): $30,000
- Property Damage: $10,000
Gilbert Arizona Drunk Driving Laws
Driving while impaired because of alcohol is a serious crime which carries serious penalties. Upon your FIRST (1st) conviction of driving drunk in Gilbert Arizona, you will face:
- Up to 10 days in jail
- A $250 fine
- Suspension of your license (for a period of 3 to 12 months)
